Special Council Meeting on Tuesday, 10/24/2017
A special Council meeting has been called for Tuesday, 10/24/2017, at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers, located on the 2nd floor of the Municipal Building at 115 W. Buckeye Ave. The expressed purpose of the meeting is to enter into executive session under Ohio Revised Code 121.22 G1 for terms of employment. No action is expected following the executive session.
There are 2 types of Council meetings: regular and special.
The regular Council meetings for the Village of Ada Council are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, beginning at 6:30 pm, in Council Chambers. This meeting schedule has been scheduled as per village ordinance, and each January, the current Council confirms the regular meeting schedule for the year. During the regular Council meetings, a standard agenda is followed. The standards agenda includes passage of minutes, legislation, and pay ordinances, as well as a designated time for public comments and key village officials.
Special Council meetings can be called aside from the regular meeting schedule, but they do not replace regular meetings of Council. In order to call a Special Council Meeting, there must be a stated purpose for the meeting, and that stated purpose is the only business that Council can attend to during that meeting. When a Special Council Meeting has been called, the public notice is sent to the local newspapers, posted on the Village’s website and calendar, and posted in the Municipal Building no later than 24 hours prior to the meeting.
The majority of both regular and special Council meetings are open to the public. The Ohio Revised Code places specific restrictions as to when the public will be excused from the meeting; those restrictions are called “executive sessions.” The topic of the executive session must meet the definitions as outlined in the Ohio Revised Code Chapter 121.22.
